Valley Pan Drain. it will likely splash on or near your starter (poor design imho) but it won't infiltrate your crankcase. does the valley pan have a drain or do i have to clean it out from the top of the engine? just center punch it in the middle of the hex socket well and you should have no issue drilling it out, if you choose to do that. It is a broached 3/8 drive hole with a small hole to. the drain bolt is the retaining bolt that holds down the valley pan. the plug does have a hole all the way through. It drains into a passage that exits at the rear of the block. took my heads off a few months ago for a valve job and i’m just now getting back to reassembling the top end/etc. The oem is drilled to allow. I would use a short. the drain is through the bolt that holds down the valley pan, and can easily clog up causing stuff to just drain off the sides of. the intake manifold holds the valley pan down to the heads so there isn't a need for any sealer there.
